DESCRIPTION

Dr. John - “In The Right Place” Atco Records SD 7018 (Stereo) from 1973. Hard to find Original First Pressing Vinyl Psychedelic / Blues / Roots / Swamp Rock Album from Dr. John aka Mac Rebennak or his 'Mardi Gras' persona of "Dr. John Creaux, The Night Tripper". Produced and Arranged by Allen Toussaint. Players include Toussaint, The Meters (Leo “Breeze” Nocentelli, Arthur (Art) “Red” Neville, George “Freak Man” Porter, Jr., Joseph “Zigaboo” Modeliste), Gary Brown, Ralph MacDonald, David Spinozza, Robbie Montgomery and Jessie Smith . Great New Orleans gumbo Rock. On the Yellow Atco Label in the Original Tri-fold Gatefold Sleeve (3 pages to view), with the disc inserted into external pocket opening in left-hand spine with no Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode and includes the Printed Atco Inner Sleeve. This is a First Monarch Pressing as indicated by the “MO” suffix on the Label Matrix numbers and the circled “MR” Logo in the runout vinyl.

CONDITION

The Tri-fold Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some fairly slight basic shelf wear and corner softening/wear. Still super solid with no cutouts, writing, splits, stains, tears, etc. and should still rate VG. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition looking fairly lightly played. If you look closely you can spot some light scuffs and hairlines - no actual scratches ie something you can feel with your fingernail. Plays at least VG+ or better all through with some random soft tics that you would mostly not even notice and don’t distract from the music. I’m calling it VG for the slight flaws but it plays way better overall. The are a couple light spindle trails, an old price tag and a tiny bit of writing on Side 1 but otherwise the labels are Near Mint.

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
