Description
PARLOPHONE R883: PHILADELPHIA MELODIANS Three Little Words/CASA LOMA ORCHESTRA Little Did I Know
This is probably the rarest UK Parlophone of Duke Ellington, issued as it was under the above pseudonym. It was not issued in the USA on a standard OKeh disc either, only appearing on a rare Odeon and Parlophone series. This was also the only UK issue of this Casa Loma item. The Matrix/take numbers appear in the run-off (W480028E/W404572A). A good playing copy of this rare item - see below.
CONDITION: VtoV+/V+toE- with a few minor scratches/scuffs only and some general groove wear. As the grading would suggest, there is more groove wear on side 1 than on side 2. There is also quite a lot of surface dirt. This disc would benefit greatly from being cleaned.
Please note that we have been selling 78rpm records for over 30 years and have extensive experience in both grading and packing records of this type. For grading we use the standard system as used in the leading collectors' magazines. For mailing, we use custom made cardboard squares and boxes together with heavy-duty bubblewrap.
