Before the Chicago by way of San Francisco punk absurdist crew The Dwarves truly carved out their confrontational, controversial niche in the annals of punk with juvenile, non-PC humour and breakneck hardcore stompers, they went by the moniker of The Suburban Nightmare whilst peddling in The Sonics/Frank Zappa 60's garage/psych rock worship. Delivering one album in this earlier iteration, 1985's A Hard Day's Nightmare, it would be the following year's rebrand as The Dwarves when the true libertines of the punk movement came into full swing with their definitive debut LP Horror Stories. Whilst musically still adhering closer to their primitive garage-punk sound, the telltale signs of their penchant for questionable lyrics and purposeful ignorance were already beginning to take shape in choice cuts such as the brazen opening banger 'In And Out', or the standout minute-long 'Sometimes Gay Boys Don't Wear Pink.'
