Coming out from under the shadow of one of the most famous names in rock history can't be easy.
It would seem that the only way Dweezil Zappa has been able to come into his own has been by embracing the legacy his father left behind.
Return Of The Son Of… is an homage to one of the most prolific recording artists in music history; a deliberate attempt to expose Zappa's work to a younger audience.
It was recorded during a number of shows that were part of the 'Zappa Plays Zappa' world tour; an ongoing endeavor to keep Frank's music alive.
Yet Return Of The Son Of… is more than a simple tribute album.
Dweezil Zappa & band stick to the original arrangements, but in the 'free' sections, each of them prove that they are more than worthy musicians.
The credo 'Anything At Any Time For Any Reason At All' is kept as a leading motto throughout the concerts, and one can tell that this is a bunch of guys who know how to play.
This is the third joint Music On Vinyl & V2 Benelux release, receiving special treatment.
