Description
LP Album DAFOS with artists, Mickey Hart, Airto, and Flora Purim and others produced in the U.S. by Reference Recordings at "The Japan Center Theatre" in San Francisco, California in a real concert space, not a studio. It was recorded in October, 1982, and March, 1983. The mostly instrumental music has almost a tribal flair. The four-sided album jacket in in excellent condition with just a small amount of wear on the front and back covers and the sleeve is slightly yellowed but the album is in excellent listening condition played on a high end stereo turntable system. This is a highly prized album. The pressings are of the finest available virgin vinyl to assure quiet flat surfaces and a long playing life. The non-standard speed of 45 rpm was chosen to gain extra dyamic range and high frequency resolution, that is, to more closely duplicate the sound of the master tapes. Plating of the original lacquer was done within hours of cutting to minimize sonic deterioration at that stage. (As per description verbatim on album jacket). The sounds you hear on this album were mixed on the spot to two tracks with no overdubbing, artificial reverb or equalization due to the engineering wizardry of Keith Johnson. This is a celebration of percussion music produced by a large group of rare percussion instruments. Other participants are Jody Diamond, Bobby Vega and Steve Douglas. Photographs on the album jacket depict musicians and instrumentation. The back cover of the jacket lists every category and individual/s in the making of this album and jacket.
