No such event would be thoroughly complete without an array of highly coveted recordings from the great, acclaimed, amazing, modern Russian Cello virtuoso Daniel Shafran. His recordings are rare and his albums few and far between in the U.S. (Many of his wonderful early performances circulated on sub-standard Russian Melodiya disks and recordings that never did this astonishing soloist any justice.) On offer here a very rare and superb sample of Shafran's adroit performance skills as a chamber musician of the greatest refinement as evidenced in his critically acclaimed and amazing, soulful traversal of the Beethoven Cello Sonatas. Present albums are the quite Fine, better engineered and pressed U.S. Columbia Odyssey 2-LP Stereo Reissue of earlier (and decent) Melodiya recordings (1976) showcasing Shafran's intense playing at the peak of his skills. These Reissue Odyssey Stereo Disks are First Edition and First Pressings. Disk deadwax mechanically engraved 1F (Side 1), 1F (Side 2), 1AA (Side 3), and 1J (Side 4). Visual inspection under brightest light shows disks retain a high-gloss vinyl sheen on all sides. Play Grading (twice) reveals little to no surface noise of any kind and a very few, intermittent light ticks. Shafran's singing cello lines sound through near perfectly, excellent for close study. Gate-Fold Jacket is Near-Mint as well. Not a  Cut-Out. Inner Odyssey paper sleeves. Detailed Liner notes. This is an Exceptional and Rare, certainly Collectible copy for detailed study of Shafran's outstanding and unique performance skills very clearly audible throughout.  Slow movements in particular are rendered with deeply moving grace and charm by both Shafran and Ginzburg.  Currently, this is the only Odyssey set of Shafran's Beethoven Cello Sonatas on Ebay world-wide.
