<<60th Anniversary>>
An original '62 Mono 1st press on UK CBS. Matrix 1/1. Philips pressed as you would expect in '62. Etchings 'V420' etc. Note how the labels mention the album in SUPER LARGE font. 'Recording 1st pub' also present. This is all consistent with very 1st press in '62 - sweet! The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with flipbacks. We also have a genuine inner sleeve too. So,100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) A super looking slab of vinyl and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light trails and a couple of of light marks per side - which do just about sound momentarily [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of slight deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. For Jazz, and for the vintage, pretty dang fine. It is clean signalled. All I'm getting is what I'd describe as faint 'presence' in a couple of brief spots per side. Certainly nothing remotely unpalatable or distracting. A couple of ticks toward the end of 'Castilian', and a coupe more early in 'Three's A Crowd'. Some excellent audio on here - the warmth from the clarinet that just can't seem to be replicated well in other formats. Lovein' it. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) I wonder how many white fronts for an original '62 are still white after 60 years in a collection? Well, let me assure you that the camera doesn't lie, here. That front is perfectly white - which is quite frankly amazing given the relative passage of time. Just a couple of tiny pin pricks extreme top right on front. The rear is pretty clean and not affected by ageing as much as you often - but there is low-level evidence in the papery text area. Flipbacks are all intact and secure. Minimal edge wear and firm openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg) A bit ageing. Bag present. No splits.
