Dave Edwards and his Alabama Boys- 1937, released by Texas Rose Records (TXR 2707) in 1983 out of Van Nuys, CA.

*Even though they rivaled the popularity of Bob Wills & his Texas Playboys at the time in Tulsa, OK, Dave Edwards & his Alabama Boys only recorded 14 sides during one session in 1937, and that was it.  In fact, most of their band members would later become a part of Bob Wills' and Johnnie Lee Wills' bands.  Based on the liner notes, it seems the band was dissatisfied with the session, which is awfully surprising to me!  Their incredibly hip, hopped-up & jazzy Western Swing is some of the best recordings I've heard in the genre.  The band included saxophone and wild ragtime banjo, which is a very nice addition and a somewhat rare element in early Western Swing recordings.  Surprisingly, the band's A&R man decided all of the material they would play the day of the session, and the band rolled with it.  I would guess the A&R man was a big Emmett Miller fan, with tune selections such as "Sigh and Cry Blues", "Down in Jungle Town", "Hula Lou", "Baby (You're as Sweet as Honey to Me)", "Done Sold My Soul to the Devil", "Minnie the Moocher" and "Oh By Jingo!".*

The thick Vinyl is visually graded in VG+ condition.  When looked at under a very bright light, the record shows a very rich luster and a few, incredibly light surface marks. 

The Gatefold Cover is graded in VG+ condition, just showing some very minor edge wear.

If you buy many records from me, I can ship them all together in one box, and charge you the actual cost I pay at the post office. International customers, please keep in mind that once you reach 4 pounds (roughly 4 LPs+), 1st Class International is no longer a shipping option, and you must ship Priority or Express.

Insurance is your option as a buyer. International customers, please keep in mind that you can only insure your item if you ship Express, which can be very expensive. Please contact me if you would prefer this option.
