All I Want To Do Is Play Guitar
(UK Westood WRS019 1972)
Here’s a rare one, the only LP I know of by Dave Lewry. I’ll admit that I know nothing about the artist, other than he also played guitar on the equally rare Friends O’ Mine LP on the same label, but this is really good, mostly self composed folky singer-songwriter stuff. Excellent acoustic guitar throughout, with occasional sympathetic backing, and a very pleasant voice. The songs are high quality throughout and this is just a really enjoyable album, definitly one of the better Westwood records. As usual with Westwood only a couple of hundred pressed (probably 250) and now very hard to find in any condition.
Sleeve condition: VG+
The usual Westwood/Folk Heritage/Midas type sleeve, made from unlaminated thin card with small flipbacks on the rear.
Front Sleeve - Very clean, no ink marks, one inconsequential crease in the top right corner, no tears, when held at the right angle there’s a circular impression where the record sits – his could turn into ringwear if the record isn’t stored correctly.
Rear Sleeve – clean, no ink marks, no creases, there’s one small tear (white on white) on the top flipback, right in the centre.
Spine – Clean and unworn with all of the writing is clearly readable, well, I say clearly but the writing’s very small so you’ll need good eyes!.
Top Seam – One tiny dot of wear in the centre right above where that tear on the rear sleeve is.
Bottom Seam – A couple of small patches of wear towards the corners but nothing to worry about.
Labels – Both very clean with no wear or damage of any kind.
Record condition: EX
Very nice, clean vinyl in fine condition No visible surface marks of any type. When played the sound is as good as you would want, clean and clear with no surface noise of any type apart from one low pop towards the end of “Josephine”. Records of this type with a lot of low volume acoustic passages are unforgiving when they’re damaged, this one is highly enjoyable throughout.
Overall a nice copy of a very fine and very scarce LP.
