A few nice copies of the Spanish white label 1975 Space Oddity re-issue do still exist [that record is in a plain sleeve with a nice biography written on the back in Spanish if you remember]

This white label single however is very different!

Firstly, a full two years earlier, it is the only 1973 "Space Oddity" white label promo i have ever seen in the last twenty five years of record collecting....a time while both sides of the pond RCA were still trying to push Bowie's most iconic single to that illusive number 1 spot.....and the story does not stop there.....

Spanish white label promotional records, especially LPs, were often pressed by RCA some time, often years, after the actual official release and used as a retrospective promotional record for Bowie's forthcoming releases.

For example the Spanish Pin Ups white label LP came around in about 1974 and was used by RCA to promote Diamond Dogs/Young Americans period.

You can interpret the actual year of pressing of a Spanish record by looking at the last digits of the "Deposito Legal" which is an official index number assigned by the government at the time of an items publication in Spain (as well as records this includes magazines and books etc).

Several things make this RCA white label radio promo single unusual.

Firstly it was actually very early....pressed by COFASA for RCA in 1973 (Deposito Legal/Index M.6141-1973) at the time of the RCA USA push to re-issue the 1969 single....and only a very few quality white labels of the 1969 original Space Oddity now exist. 

Official RCA index number 3-10834 pressed 3G3ZW-0035 and with matrix number 850 3ZW 0035*1 and 0036*1 on b side.

Credited on label as a 05:12 version.

Mint condition iconic original 1973 issue RCA Spain white label radio promo vinyl single housed in the original authentic 1973 RCA picture sleeve it was first distributed to radio stations in around Spain 36 years ago. 

This is without doubt the BEST condition picture sleeve promotional record you will EVER find.
