Description
David Bowie Hunky Dory Vinyl LP - Early Press. Condition is "Used". Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class.
Recently combined record collections with my partner and now listing LPs that we have as duplicates or ones we never listen to. This one is a duplicate - one of our favourite Bowie LPs. We are not dealers so any words in this listing are not related to official record gradings - its just an explanation of what we see and what we hear. The LP is played on a Rega Planar P£ turntable. It might play differently on different decks - but this is a full and honest description in good faith - so we will not accept returns/refunds unless the LP is damaged in transit.
HOW IT LOOKS The outer sleeve is in great condition for age - it has been in a clear plastic cover. No writing or stamps or stickers. The spine is still square. The imperfections - very minor ring wear - some minor creasing on the front left edge - not noticeable when in the plastic cover and what maybe the start of a very small split on the bottom edge(about an inch - but you cannot see light through this - i almost missed this as its not noticeable when looking at the front of the cover. See photos as these best show the condition. The bottom line - even with these imperfections its in great condition for age and for an LP thats played often.
The original inner sleeve feels fragile and has a tear at the bottom where the LP has cut through. The LP has been kept in a replacement white inner sleeve for a while now to prevent any further deterioration to the original inner.
The lyric sheet is included - a little age related fading but no tears or writing.
Labels - clean and free from writing. No significant spindle marks.
Vinyl - looks really clean and shiny when held in normal light. But help under bright ceiling lights or at a bright window can see some light surface marks.
HOW IT SOUNDS The LP has been fully played through. Sounds good on our system. It has some crackle - most noticeable in the run ins between tracks. It is quite old though so no doubt could do with a good clean - we dont have the equipment to do this. There are some clicks but no loud cracks and definitely no skips or jumps.
In conclusion - a cover that would sit well in any collection - but as the LP does have some crackle and clicks its not one for someone who likes CD perfection.
For those who date LPs accurately the letters/numbers are
Side 1. A5E AIAF
Side 2 5E AIV
