Description

Up for sale is a rare-as-hen's teeth version of Bowie's "Let's Dance" - highly collectible but not without its flaws, so if you're a Bowie collector, read on.
This is the gold-stamped promo version of MFSL's release of "Let's Dance", which came out in the same year as the original - 1983. You can clearly see the stamp on the front cover.
Starting with the bad news. The sleeve is in fair condition with very noticeable wear all over, noticeable edgewear - especially on the back, and obvious traces of dirt and sellotape residue all around the edge of the back cover - which also has significant yellowing.
The inner MFSL insert and original antistatic sleeve are in much better condition and in fact near mint, except for the fact that the whole of the insert has gone creamy, but in an even manner - no spotting or discolored areas.
The vinyl itself is in Very Good condition. It has been Ultrasonic cleaned and plays through very well with no skips or jumps, doing justice to the clean, crisp, punchy mastering job done by MFSL. Beware - the EQing on the MFSL version is different from the original, with more treble extension and shorter bass. But it is a great listen. The only issues are one noticeable hairline scratch of 1.5 inch length across Track 2 side 1 (China Girl), which causes a regular but not too serious "pop" during most of the song; and traces of removal on Track 1 side 2 (Ricochet), which result in background noise throughout).
I am deliberately painting the darkest picture so no one buys this expecting a mint pressing and ends up disappointed. Also, there will be no returns and there is no reserve. However, this remains a seriously collectible item for a Bowie fan, and despite the beat up sleeve, a very rewarding listen to a fantastically well-produced album. Say what you will about Nile Rodgers - back then he knoew how to make a record sound good.
Thanks for looking - pls check my other auctions for sensibly priced, quality vinyl. Happy bidding !
