Description

For sale on behalf of a friend, who states:
"David Bowie's 1977 album "Low", on the green RCA International label, in nice playable condition. Matrix A-1U, denoting an original issue.
Bowie's first album as part of a series colloquially known as the Berlin Trilogy (the other two being "Heroes" and "Lodger"), it was actually only PRODUCED in Berlin, and in fact recorded largely in France under the working title "New Music Night And Day". It was jointly produced by Bowie and Tony Visconti (of Straight Ahead Productions fame, and once married to the alluring Welsh artist Mary Hopkin), and included collaborations with Brian Eno, Dennis Davis and George Murray. This album is widely seen as one of his most inventive, and was the first album in one of his many reinventions, being much more avant-garde than his previous works and ultra-modern when heard next to its contemporaries. It comprises music from many areas of his composing arena, including items that he intended to use for "The Man Who Fell To Earth", and influences from his attempts to rehabilitate from cocaine use. Reviews were mixed at the time, though history has carried the body of work on its shoulders, and the album is now recognised as one of the finest of the period and hugely ahead of its time, due in part to the influence of the emerging style that became known as "Kraut-Rock". Suggested listening might include "Autobahn", the 1974 album by Kraftwerk, and some of the works by Klaus Schulze or Edgar Froese.
This copy has some sleeve creasing around the spine, a wrinkle on Davie's cheek and a little evident shelf-wear, but all in all is quite acceptable for an album of thirty-eight years vintage. The vinyl is very nice considering that we're dealing with a post-Suez pressing, though there are a few light marks on the surface of side one (photo). These do not appear to affect play, and there is a minimum of surface noise from the record when played through quality kit. If you want more photos lease contact me and I'll organise it.

As usual, you're welcome to collect it,and if you want more info feel free to contact me. Postage is UK only, so if you want to bid from overseas, please contact me for a quote for delivery before bidding, otherwise the bid will be removed. Payment within seven days please, or it'll be relisted.

Best of luck in the auction!
