Description
Very nice condition and incredibly rare & sought after collector's item, debut single from the early 60s Beat band from Preston, David John & The Mood.
Short lived and only a very limited discography, but hugely acclaimed on the live circuit, appearing as tour support to The Rolling Stones and playing regularly at the prestigious 60s music clubs on the same bill as Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee Hooker, The Yardbirds, Manfred Mann & PJ Proby.
This is the original Vocalion debut single, not the later re-issue (which is actually solid-centred, but designed to look like a push-out)

Vinyl VG+ Very nice condition for its age. Obviously been handled and played. The surface has lots of superficial surface marks like so many others of the era, but I have play-tested it in full on a Goldring Lenco GL75 turntable with a sensitive modern stereo cart, and it sounds great! There's some slight background crackle and hiss, but rest assured, none of the surface marks cause any scratches, skips, jumps or skating. I have tried to show the surface as best as I can in the photographs. The label is plain black Vocalion company design paper label with silver label-text on a four-pronged push out. The labels are clean with no scuffs or stains. There is a feint penned name "Ben" written on one side, but it's not obvious if you don't know it's there. Some evidence of spindle-wear.
Sleeve: No sleeve - will ship in plain paper die-cut.
Record Collector RRPG and Discogs have this single in the £200+ price bracket. Naturally those values reflect Mint condition copies.
This is not a mint copy by any stretch, but it plays well with no defects and I'm happy with the standard VG+ description.
It's the stand-out copy from a batch of rare 60s singles I've recently acquired. Still mulling over whether to list the others individually or as a job-lot.
I'm going to start this off with a realistic opening price and I'm happy to entertain sensible offers, but only as long as there are no concrete bids. If a bid comes in, then it's only fair to let the auction run to a natural conclusion.
