"This music is dedicated to peace and freedom."- David Lee Jr. Super rare, dark and funky, percussion heavy private jazz from New Orlean's David Lee Jr., recorded in New York in 1974. Album complete with 4 page typed insert from the desk of Lee Jr. with complete biographical information, session info, and quotes from various journalists, as well as label information. "Evolution" was the first release from Supernal Records. David Lee Jr. played with Roy Ayers, Sonny Rollins, and Joe Newman, as well as countless other Jazz and funk projects. This recording is a mix of driving heavy spiritual fusion and abstract percussion soundscapes. A fantastic listen, also an invaluable resource for producers as the drums are so upfront and heavy. Vinyl is in excellent EX condition with one or two insignificant scuffs from resleeving. Promotional stamp on the label. Jacket is overall nicely intact, but a radio station copy with ringwear, small splits on bottom and upper seam and upper left spine. Sticker on upper left front for filling. Tape on reverse, tape residue on front and back. Really though, the vinyl is in awesome shape, and jacket is totally presentable VG. Instruments include conga, electric bass and guitar, gong, organ, piano, vibes, voice, and countless percussion instruments. Most of the instruments are played by David Lee himself. Tracks are as follow. Side A -Revelation, Spirit Voice, Cosmic Vision, Wymbo Ngoma, Regeneration, Freedom Bells, Acknowledgement, Love Parable. Side B- Nola Reflex, Evolution, Cosmopolitan, Second line March, Constant Search, I want our Love to always last, Mystic Sound.
