Death Cab For Cutie, We Have The Facts And We’re Voting Yes
Barsuk, BARK11LP, 2001. Limited edition 1st pressing on white vinyl.
Auditory: A side, VG-; B side VG
Visual: A side, VG-; B side VG
Cover: VG-
WARNING! This is a very mediocre copy! I recently bought it on eBay, and rescued it as best I could via cleaning with a vintage Discwasher and D4+. This removed the fingerprints and some marks, as well as improved the sound quality from G to VG-/VG. The B side is an okay listen if you don’t mind occasional crackles/pops, but the A side leaves something to be desired, although it does play through. White vinyl seems to hide flaws well, because the record looks WAY better than it sounds (in my opinion). The visual VG- on the A side is because of some stubborn residue that is visible on close inspection. The cover has major creases in the bottom left (see photo) and top right, a minor crease bottom right, as well as minor reddish marks on the back. The insert is a bit better at VG, a matching crease bottom left, as well as some minor marks. Honestly, if I wasn’t lucky enough to already have NM copies of this album on white and black, I would keep it, since only 400 were ever pressed on white. If you have access to the likes of a VPI cleaner, maybe this copy could be further resurrected. If not, it’s rare, so I assume somebody would be happy to have it in their collection! Any questions, please ask! And please check out my other auctions for the following:
The Decemberists, Her Majesty, 1st pressing limited edition black vinyl #218
Built To Spill, Ancient Melodies Of The Future

GRADING:
Auditory Grading*
M (sealed); M- (unplayed); NM (dead quiet); NM- (surface noise in-between tracks); VG+ (surface noise in-between tracks & quiet passages); VG (surface noise in quiet/mid-range passages, occasional crackles/pops); VG- (frequent crackles/pops); G (crackles/pops throughout, as well as skips)
*As played on a Rega P1 turntable with Ortofon OMB 5E cartridge. Personally, once a record falls to VG-, the noise is too distracting for me to enjoy the playback.
Visual Grading*
M (sealed); M- (unhandled); NM (beautiful copy, full gloss, no scuffing/marking); NM- (beautiful copy, full gloss, light scuffing); VG+ (very good copy, well-handled, scuffing); VG (very good copy, average handling wear, scuffing/marking); VG- (very good copy, poorly handled, marking/surface scratches); G (badly handled, surface and deep scratches)
* As viewed in bright natural light. I give a separate visual grading, because in my experience records sometimes look better than they play and vice versa.
Cover Grading*
M (perfect); NM (minor corner dings); VG+ (major corner dings or minor creases); VG (major creases and/or minor marks or splits); VG- (major marks and/or splits and/or minor ringwear); G (major creases, marks, splits and/or ringwear)
* See item description for listing of all imperfections

MY COLLECTION
I have been collecting indie records for 11 years now, in the US and the UK, so I have a lot of EU presses too. I take very, very good care of them, cleaning them regularly and storing them vertically in high quality inners and outers. Thus, all of them bought from new are no less than VG+. This is the first time I have ever sold any vinyl, so I’m starting with just a few as a trial. I aim to please, so my descriptions are very detailed! Finally, my vinyls come from a smoke and pet-free apartment!
