About Death Piggy

Formed in Richmond, Virginia, in the early 1980s, Death Piggy was the original band of Dave Brockie, years before he became internationally known as Oderus Urungus, the frontman and co-founder of GWAR.

Known for their bizarre humor, chaotic hardcore sound, and theatrical live performances, Death Piggy became a fixture of the Richmond underground scene. During this period Brockie and members of the Slave Pit collective began experimenting with outrageous costumes and stage performances that would eventually evolve into GWAR, one of heavy metal's most recognizable and influential theatrical bands.

Today, original Death Piggy releases are considered cornerstone collectibles for GWAR fans and collectors of early American hardcore punk.

Collector Notes

Among Death Piggy's original releases, Love War is widely recognized as the band's first commercially released 7-inch EP, making it an essential piece of Dave Brockie and early GWAR history. Death Piggy only released a handful of original 45 RPM records before the band evolved into GWAR, and surviving originals have become increasingly scarce.

What makes this copy especially desirable is the authentic Dave Brockie signature, completed before his passing in 2014. Signed Death Piggy originals rarely appear for sale and are highly sought after by collectors of punk, hardcore, and GWAR memorabilia. Fans have noted that signed Death Piggy items are prized pieces in their collections, reflecting the strong collector demand for Brockie's early work.

Whether you're a dedicated GWAR collector, a fan of Dave Brockie's legacy, or a collector of rare independent hardcore punk records, this is an outstanding opportunity to own an important piece of underground music history.
