Description
A 1st pressing of WDWTWA on the UK Purple label. Matrix A1/B1. Etching 'Purple Peckie'. Stampers 1R/1H - placing it amongst the first few thousand copies ever pressed. Please note the perimeter text reads 'Gramophone' which, coupled with the matrix number, is indicative of 1st issue. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Also included is the original purple lyric insert and original inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb shape and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Interference is pretty much non-existent. From quiet passages to the more complex sections the audio is clean and without interference or distortion. All I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. And the only deviation is a couple of light ticks in the opening organ swirl/drone of the final track 'Our Lady'. If you are looking for top-level audio then do give this copy serious consideration.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) In beautiful condition and looks almost good as new. Lovely shiny front and rear with a mirror-like quality and not a crease in sight. The interior is in excellent condition with perhaps just the faintest wisp of ageing at the extremities. Edge wear is pretty much non-existent and the openings are still sharp. All corners are still sharp and there are no dings! The spine is pristine looking - 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. What a specimen!
Lyric sheet (Ex+) Barely a single crease. No ageing or edge wear.
Inner (Ex-) Light ageing, but no seam splits.
