DEF LEPPARD – PYROMANIA – 1983 U.S. MERCURY – MASTERDISK / HW / HRM
Beautiful original-era 1983 U.S. Mercury pressing of Def Leppard’s landmark Pyromania LP.
This copy has excellent collector-specific deadwax markings, including MASTERDISK, mastering engineer Howie Weinberg’s “HW” initials, an HRM matrix designation, and the distinctive hand-etched “BE A GRIZZLY” inscription.
Even better, the vinyl is exceptionally clean, presenting in the EX+ to NM- range, and the original printed Def Leppard photo/credit inner sleeve is included.

This particular copy has several desirable identifiers etched/stamped into the runout area.
Observed markings include:
• MASTERDISK
• HW – Howie Weinberg
• “BE A GRIZZLY”

• A-4 marking
The HW initials identify mastering engineer Howie Weinberg, whose work at Masterdisk appears on numerous major rock releases of the era.
The HRM designation is associated with Hauppauge Record Manufacturing, while the distinctive “BE A GRIZZLY” inscription is one of the recognizable runout details found on period U.S. copies of Pyromania.
These details make this a much more specifically identifiable copy than simply listing it as a generic 1983 Pyromania LP.
CONDITION — GOLDMINE GRADING
VINYL: EX+ / NM-
Exceptional condition.
The vinyl retains beautiful, deep gloss and shows very little evidence of use. Under direct lighting, the playing surfaces appear extremely clean with only very minor superficial evidence of normal sleeve removal or careful handling.
No significant scratches are apparent.
The record presents considerably better than the typical heavily played copy of this enormously popular album.
The original Mercury labels are also exceptionally clean with excellent color and print.
I am conservatively describing the record as EX+ / NM- rather than simply NM because grading is subjective and I prefer to leave the buyer pleasantly surprised.
JACKET: VG+
Original 1983 Pyromania jacket with the iconic exploding-building artwork.
The jacket remains very attractive overall with strong, vibrant artwork and no major loss of presentation.
There is normal vintage wear including:
• Light edge and corner wear
• Minor surface/rub wear
• Several small handling/edge creases
• General storage wear consistent with a 1983 rock LP
The jacket is not mint, but remains a very respectable original example.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they show the actual jacket and record being offered.
ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE: VG+
Original Def Leppard printed photo/credit inner sleeve is included.
The original inner features period band photography, album credits and artwork and is an important completeness point for an original-era copy.
It shows normal handling/storage wear consistent with age but remains highly presentable.
