Description
For sale: The ultra-rare original 2000 U.S. promotional red translucent vinyl pressing of Deftones – White Pony (Maverick PRO-A-100174).
This is the authentic promo-only release from 2000, distributed to radio, press, and select record stores — never sold retail. Widely regarded as one of the scarcest Deftones variants, with reports of a limited run of approximately 1,000 copies worldwide. (Not the later commercial red reissues or colored repressings.)
Condition (conservative grading):
• Vinyl: Near Mint (NM) – Never played. I acquired this from a contact at Maverick Records in 2003, opened it once to verify color and condition, and it has remained untouched since.
• Labels: Pristine, no spindle marks, no wear.
• Inner Sleeves: Original plain white card sleeves (NM), plus the included printed lyric/credits insert (also NM).
• Outer Sleeve: Classic title-printed red PVC envelope-style outer sleeve (the signature promo packaging) – Near Mint. Stored upright in a protective plastic sleeve (as shown in photos), so minimal handling wear. Light typical PVC scuffing/micro-scratches from age/storage (common and cosmetic only—see close-ups), no cracks, tears, major fading, or splits. The white Deftones horse logo and text remain sharp and vibrant.
Kept upright in a smoke-free, climate-controlled home the entire time. This is a true collector-grade example.
Shipping: Shipped in a rigid mailer (Whiplash or equivalent) with cardboard stiffeners, full tracking, and insurance.
No returns on vinyl sales, but my grading is honest and detailed—message me with any questions before buying!
These original PRO-A-100174 red promo copies in this clean condition are increasingly hard to find.
