Deram DML1005:  GRAHAM COLLIER SEPTET  'Deep Dark Blue Centre'

UK jazz rarity from 1967, the first album by this bass-player/composer who established himself as one of the leading lights of UK jazz during the late-60's/ear;ly 70's. Here the group consists of Kenny Wheeler or Harry Beckett * (tp/fl-h), Mike Gibbs (tb), Dave Aaron/Karl Jenkins (reeds), Philip Lee (g), Collier (b) and John Marshall (d).  It was recorded at sessions during January 1967.  This is an UK 1st Decca deep groove mono pressing with brown and white/black printing label.

Side 1 'Blue Walls*'/'El Miklos'/'Hirayoshi Suite*'/'Crumblin' Cookie*'

Side 2 'Conversations'/'Deep Dark Blue Centre'

CONDITION/DESCRIPTION: The disc is E (VG+) with some light to very light scratches/scuffs, visible under a bright 'grading' light. These have little affect on the playing. The cover is also E (VG+), with minor surface scratching/creasing/rubbing/shadowing and some surface dirt/staining, particularly on the predominantly, white surface of the back. There is a small amount of slight residue from a sticky label in the top left hand corner of the front.
