Description

Derek And The Dominos – Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs – 1970 ATCO SD 2-704 – 2LP

Nice vintage copy of Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs, the landmark 1970 double album from Derek and the Dominos, featuring Eric Clapton alongside Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle and Jim Gordon, with Duane Allman contributing his legendary slide-guitar work to much of the album.

One of the defining blues-rock albums of its era, Layla combines deeply personal songwriting with exceptional guitar interplay between Clapton and Allman. In addition to the classic title track “Layla,” the album includes “Bell Bottom Blues,” “Key to the Highway,” “Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?” and “Have You Ever Loved a Woman.”

This is the 1970 US ATCO SD 2-704 pressing, manufactured by Philips Recording Company, in the original gatefold jacket.

Vinyl: Strong VG / Approaching VG+ – Both LPs are attractive with good gloss and some light surface marks. Nothing looks particularly concerning or feelable. We're staying conservative at Strong VG rather than pushing the records to VG+, but overall this is a very nice-looking vintage set.

Jacket: also Strong VG / Approaching VG+ – Very nice original gatefold, particularly considering the age and the heavier construction required to hold two LPs. There is some light ring wear and slight corner wear, but the jacket remains crisp, solid and structurally strong with an attractive overall presentation.

Label: ATCO Records
Catalog #: SD 2-704
Released: 1970
Pressing: Philips Recording Company
Country: US
Format: 2 × Vinyl LP, Album, Stereo, Gatefold
Genre: Rock
Style: Blues Rock

Overall, a very appealing vintage copy of an essential rock album. The records retain nice gloss with only relatively minor visible wear, while the gatefold jacket has held up especially well for a 1970 double-LP package.

A Note About Grading:
