Pressco 101/102 by Prophet & His Disciples: The Pusher pt I & II. Almost always when this 45 does turn up, which is not often, the title is You Fool You Fool, which is a repeating verse in the song. The title The Pusher has drug use connotations, or could have been misconstrued as promoting drug use, while this is really a scorching anti-drug song. The Pusher label was probably quickly replaced with the more neutral DJ/consumer friendly title You Fool. That would make The Pusher the true first pressing of this 45, with You Fool actually the second press. Dave Hamilton and Clarence Coulter produced, Clarence Coulter wrote it. What an over the top Detroit funk 45! All the parts seem like they were recorded at maximum volume, just short of distortion. This 45 projects so much energy, the music just leaps out of the speakers. Screaming vocals, stinging wah wah guitar, strong drum work, pulsating rhythm, and true to Detroit street life anti drug lyrics. Psychedelic echo effects on the B side including the line: "you'll be dead, dead, dead, dead", echoing off into oblivion. Listen to the clips, it'll put a smile on your face. Although the clips pale in comparison to the sound of this record blaring forth from your turntable at high volume. Side 2 begins rather noisily, but quiets down soon. The vinyl is quite glossy, but has lots of scuffs, hairlines, light scratches, brush marks. This record still plays like the champion it is. Most would agree this is one of the truly great Detroit funk 45s, and no one will ever make raw records like this again. The time has passed. Only the vinyl artifact remains. Grade glossy VG-.
