Dexter Gordon - The Jumpin' Blues
(Prestige PR10020 UK Test Pressing LP 1973)
This is a UK original Test Pressing LP. There is no sleeve. Test Pressings do not normally come with a sleeve. Obviously, they were pressed purely to check the quality of the pressing before being issued. Therefore, these are pressed in extremely limited quantities. They are also, technically, the very 1st pressing of any LP. They are extremely rare too.
This Test Pressing LP is pressed on thick vinyl. It has generic "RCA" Test Pressing labels. "Prestige Records" were distributed by RCA Records in the UK in the 1970's. There is a small sticker with the catalogue number "PR 10020" written on it on Side 1. There is also the artist/ album title and track titles handwritten neatly on Side 1's label, and the track titles are written neatly on Side 2's label (see photos). Obviously the labels were designed to incorporate handwritten details on them.
This album was originally released in 1970 in the USA. However, it was not released in the UK until 1973. This Test Pressing was pressed in 1973 too. This LP has 1st press PR 10020 A-2E and PR 10020 B-2E matrix stampers. The LP comes with a period company polythene-lined generic inner sleeve.

Vinyl: There are two small & light hairline surface marks at the start of Side 1. These measure 1 cm and 1.5 cm in length. Otherwise, there are a few light, mild, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, Very Near Excellent condition. The labels, as mentioned, have a small catalogue sticker on Side 1, and have handwritten album details on both sides. Otherwise, they show next to no spindle wear. They are in Excellent overall condition. The period company inner sleeve is in Very Good condition. There is some light, mild or more moderate ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in many places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. Overall, a very reasonable audio copy.
