CONDITION:-

All our vinyl records are graded according to the Record Collector grading system (see notes below).

Vinyl (visual grading): When inspected under a strong light, This record record has only been played a few times on a high quality system and has been handled with great care. It still looks new. ** MINT **

Vinyl (play grading): This record was played IN FULL (both sides) to grade it. The record plays superbly on my modified Technics SL-1210 MK2/Rega RB250 turntable. the sound is very clear without any distortion whatsoever. The high frequencies ring out bright and clear as they should and bass is well-defined and clean sounding. Surface noise is very low - just like brand new vinyl. This is a heavyweight vinyl pressing that sounds totally as new. Great NWOBHM - hear it at it's best on mint 180g vinyl!!! ** MINT **

Sleeve and inserts (if applicable): The sleeve in is superb shape and still looks new. It comes in the original Earmark heavy duty clear plastic protective Outer sleeve. ** MINT **

Equipment for play grading: Modified Technics SL-1210 MK2 direct drive turntable with Rega RB250 tonearm with the Origin Live Structural modification and Sontra 500EX cartridge (a classic, up market MM cart, purchased as brand new, old stock), Cambridge Audio Azur 640P phono stage, Musical Fidelity "The Preamp" Pre Amp (the last version produced), modified QUAD 405-2 Power Amp (upgraded op amps & capacitors, etc.) and KEF Reference One full-range floorstanding loudspeakers. Occasionally, I also test play records on a highly modified Technics SL-1200 Mk2 turntable with a Rega RB250 tonearm (with FULL Origin Live mods), Denon DL103 low output moving coil cartridge and Linn Linto phono stage with the same pre-amp, power amp and loudspeakers. This system has the quality and resolution to reveal even the most minor defects in the records I sell.

Some notes about my record/CD grading: Many sellers on eBay overstate the condition of their records/CD's. As an audiophile and a collector of records myself I feel it as very important for sellers to honestly and accurately describe the condition of their used goods.

All my records are graded according to the industry standard "Record Collector Grading Criteria".

"MINT": The record The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

"EXCELLENT": The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

"VERY GOOD": The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

"GOOD": The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

"FAIR": The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

"POOR": The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

"BAD": The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.

As well as the above grades, Near Mint is often used as well; this is really for a record that appears new but is known to have been played because the label has light spindle marks or because it has come from a previous owner and is assumed to have been played by them. For records which appear to fall between the accepted grades, + and - are also often added to the grading.

In addition to the basic grading, any individual faults should be noted separately such as if an otherwise Excellent cover has a name written on it, or a 7" single is missing its original centre etc.
