NOTE FROM SELLER:
Extremely rare 7-inch studio acetate featuring Dickie Pride’s 1959 track “Fabulous Cure”. Originally released in the UK on Columbia DB 4296 in June 1959, this acetate was later cut by EMI America (founded in 1978) as an internal reference disc, most likely for licensing or reissue preparation.
Format: 7" acetate (lacquer), 45 RPM, one-sided
Label: EMI America, typed text with faint print
A-side: Fabulous Cure (original 1959 recording)
B-side: Blank
Background:
Dickie Pride (1939–1969) was a British rock’n’roll/pop singer from Larry Parnes’ stable of artists.
Fabulous Cure was his second Columbia single, following his chart entry “Primrose Lane.”
While the original 1959 Columbia 45 is collectible, this EMI America acetate is much rarer — likely one of only a few ever produced.
Acetates were never intended for commercial sale. They were cut in tiny numbers (often just 1–5 copies) for internal review, radio use, or licensing. This EMI America reference disc represents a unique piece of label history and would be of special interest to collectors of British rock’n’roll and rare test pressings.
