Description

THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
This 1970's German pressing of 'Please, Please Me' is widely accepted by audiophiles worldwide as THE best sounding pressing of this LP.

Stripped of it secondary cutting EQ, the sound is a close to the mastertape as you could possibly hope to get.

Every track plays with a clarity and warmth missing from even 1st UK pressings.

This amazing sounding cut is only present on pressings with these matrix numbers: SHZE 117 A-2 & SHZE 117 B-2

Vinyl weight: 143g

Housed within a fully laminated German printed stereo cover with the 'Hör Zu' TV logo on the front panel.

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT +

Both are clean & bright with just a handful of well-aimed spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Immaculate, deep-gloss, factory-fresh playing surfaces which apart from a single non-feelable stylus hairline on side 2 are totally unmarked in strong daylight. Closer inspection directly beneath my unforgiving powerful halogen desk lamp reveals just some barely visible wispy paper hairlines and a sparkling rainbow shine. Both sides of this high-quality pressing lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +

Played just a handful of times on top-quality equipment, the sound quality throughout is outstanding and unmatched by any other pressing on any format. Every track plays cleanly & clearly with no trace of any groove/playwear distortion in either channel. In fact, apart from two soft pops on the fade-out of 'Chains' and a hint of low-level vinyl background between track, there is nothing to fault on this wonderful sounding disc which will not disappoint.

Cover: EXCELLENT

A clean, glossy & film example with light handling & storagewear but no major faults. Both front & rear panels retain an unscratched high-gloss laminate free from any 'thumbnails' or heavy creases. There is a touch of wear to the corners and opening edge edges but no tears, writing or missing paper anywhere.

Both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine clean & fully worded.
