Description

Hi. I've been a collector of classic Krautrock lps for over 30 years. As such, I appreciate fair and accurate grading of lps. First and foremost, I PLAY-GRADE any albums I sell, for this is ultimately what matters.

This lp, First, by Dies Irae, was the first album released on the great Pilz label, an offshoot of Ohr records. It is also one of the 4 rarest of the Pilz releases (McChurch Soundroom, Heavy Christmas, and Flute and Voice being the others). Simply put, this is a PHENOMENAL album. As described by the Freeman brothers (in The Crack in the Cosmic Egg), "Very little is known about Dies Irae, except that it is rumoured that Manfred von Bohr started his career with them. They were hardly typical of bands on the Pilz label, with a heavy brand of Krautrock, blending in jazz, blues and psychedelic touches. Mostly they used straight rock structures, with much psychedlic spice, and good songs. All creatively and imaginatively played, and inter-cut with all sorts of surprising twists and turns."

To be clear, this is NOT a re-release. This is the real deal, released in 1971.

Condition of lp: Mint-

Condition of gatefold cover: VG+++ (could really be graded M-, but has a tiny sticker on back cover).

To protect my investment, I am placing a modest reserve price on this item.
