Description

The optimistic theme song from Carousel of Progress, "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow," was written by the legendary Sherman Brothers. It was heard throughout the entire attraction, and as the decades passed by from scene to scene, the music progressed as well, reflecting musical styles from the turn of the century to the mid century. These orchestrations were to the work of famed Disney composer Buddy Baker.
"There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow," is considered by many theme park fans their favorite Disney attraction theme song of all time. The Sherman Brothers often called their song a love letter to Walt Disney. Its infectious message of hope, optimism, and a bright and beautiful future ahead, was a philosophy that Walt held near and dear.
A highlight of the new Tomorrowland of 1967 was the Disneyland homecoming of the General Electric carousel theater show from the New York World's Fair. The Carousel of Progress was advertised as a four act play, featuring the most unusual stage actors you have ever come across, because they too were electrically powered modern wonders.
