Description
According to redhotjazz.com, "Doc Cook and his 14 Doctors of Syncopation worked at the Casino dance hall at the White City amusement park during the late 1920s. The amusement park was located at 63rd and South Parkway in Chicago. Cook's band also toured the midwestern states. The group broke up after having all their instruments stolen from the bandstand during a break at a marathon dance contest." Cook recorded 6 sides for Gennett in early 1924, then as Cookie's Gingersnaps, recorded 4 sides for Okeh in June 1926. He then signed to Columbia where he recorded 14 sides between July 1926 through March of 1928.
A rare disc, but it does show a fair amount of scuffing, light scratches, and some grey spots. There is audible surface noise, but the music comes through quite clearly.
I am quite careful about packing 78 RPM records.
