You are bidding on an original box released in the USA on the Epic label by Donovan. This is a first pressing of this album and the runout grooves on each disc have 1A,B 1G, 1H matrix marks; the cat. no. is Epic B2N 171.
"Riding high on the success of these singles, Donovan entered the studio in October to record his next album. The double album that resulted from these sessions consisted of one disc of electric pop music ("Wear Your Love Like Heaven") and another of acoustic children's music ("For Little Ones"). The acoustic album allowed Donovan to present a facet of his songwriting that had not been featured on his singles. It also allowed him to show his strength as a guitar player and performer in a way that he could not when augmented by session musicians. In fact, Donovan's live performances of the time featured instrumentation and performances more in line with For Little Ones than his hit singles and the first record of A Gift from a Flower to a Garden.While Mickie Most produced the single from the album ("Wear Your Love Like Heaven" b/w "Oh Gosh"), and is credited with the album's production, Donovan actually produced the bulk of the material himself, allowing Most the credit to help sales." The vinyl is almost completely unblemished across all 4 sides though there is a small, visiable mark on Record 2, Side 2 Track 2 but this cannot be felt with a light touch and I would be v.surprised if it affected play at all. On Side 3 there are some very light visible scuff which again cannot be felt and are probably the result of the record being removed from the (original included) paper sleeve. This should play with no skips, jumps or sticks.
The top lid of the box shows signs of shelfwear to the front as can be seen in the photo and the two top corner joins have come apart but could, I would think, be repaired by someone less cack-handed than myself. It also has a previous owner's name written on. The bottom is competely intact and lightly marked; it also has a picture of Donovan (the author!!) with the Maharishi. The black edges are still lustrous. Very importantly it also has all twelve of the lyric sheets and the original folder in which they came with all the word to the 'children's songs' on the second album. The words to the first two sides are printed on green paper stuck to the inside of the lid.
This is an album very much of its time and classification is difficult but it seems to fit well in the folk section as well as 60s pop. however you might classify it you will be lucky to fins a copy in this condition and with such a good starting price.
