Description

Original UK Elektra Butterfly label stereo press LP.

The last album by The Doors recorded in Los Angeles in December 1970 to January 1971 and released in April. The initial rehearsals at the Elektra studios had not gone well and Paul Rothchild had quit, recommending that their engineer Bruce Botnick take the Doors elsewhere to record! They moved into their rehearsal rooms on Santa Monica Boulevard and using an old Elektra desk set up a studio on one floor and recording booths on the floor below, with Jim singing in the bathroom. The album was recorded in six days and Jim had moved to Paris before the mixing was completed and his backing track to Riders On The Storm was his final recording with the Doors... he later died in Paris on July 3rd.

With the die-cut PVC sleeve, yellow crucifix inner and earliest A-1 B-1 matrices, A-20 A-25 stampers and EKS-75011/K.42090 sleeve numbers, with the 'Doors Music' label credits!

The embossed Shorepak matt PVC window sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some edge/corner wear & storage rubbing/waving on the outer cover. The spine is intact, slightly worn and still mostly readable, the yellow inner is intact, but has been repaired and is in VG+ condition.   The record is in visually VG+ condition, with a quite a few faint hairlines and a couple of needle marks & scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a few spindle markings on each side.   The sound reproduction is VG+ to EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves and briefly in a couple of the quieter passages and between some tracks on each side. Overall, still a really good & loud listen!

The matrix nos. are; K-42090, A-1 stamper A-20, B-1 stamper A-25. This is one of the early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1971 UK stereo issue of this album.
