Original US LP released in 1957 on the Deep Groove Green & Silver Regent Label. Cat: MG6039. This LP is in MONO. Features RVG stamp in runout groove.

Over the next several months we have the pleasure of listing a spectacular vinyl collection of over 6000 LP's. This collection consisting of mostly Jazz but also Blues, Folk ,Rock, Soundtracks and Classical was kept in amazing condition. Most of the records were played once, transferred to tape for listening and then stored away in cliplock sealed bags in specially made cupboards. The overall condition of this collection is sublime to say the least and whatever items I list as Near Mint you can be assured that it was probaly only ever played once!! Over the last few weeks you may have noticed some of the lovely jazz & rock titles I have listed, these are just the tip of the iceberg here. I hope you enjoy seeing these listings as much as I have in offering them. 

Dorothy Ashby (1932-1986) was probably the most recorded and, until Alice Coltrane came along in the 1960s, the best known jazz harpist. She was not the first to play the instrument in jazz the great Boyd Raeburn orchestra of the 1940s had a harpist, and later Pettiford and Ellington used Betty Glamann, while Herman included Corky Hale in his band but she was the first to record as a leader. In itself, that underlined the validity of her standing in jazz, where she was accepted alongside the conventional “horn” players as a jazz musician, not merely a harpist who spiced her music with jazz riffs. A good composer and a sensitive and lightly swinging performer, she produced solos that were like distillations of beautifully phrased, richly coloured guitar outings. Frank Wess, on flute, shares the solo honors with her in this her debut solo LP release.

There are a few light spindle marks on labels. Record has a few light scuff marks and very light scratches that cause some light crackles in parts. Record still plays very well though and is in VG++ condition. Cover has light ring wear, scuffing on corners, a few light surface tears  on front bottom centre, some light age spots on back and a 10cm seam split on bottom centre edge. Cover is in VG condition.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.

Post methods within Australia: All records are posted via Australia Post. Within Australia all items come with a tracking number.

Post method for overseas: All parcels are sent via Australia Post and are sent on a standard airmail service. There are no tracking numbers on these items. If you require a tracking number the item will have to be sent as an insured item which incurs a further postage fee.
