Gris-Gris is the debut album from Dr. John, the night tripper, it sounds as fresh today as it did in 1968. It is the album where Mac Rebennack established a stage identity that served him well. A respected studio ace in his native New Orleans, Rebennack wove various threads of New Orleans music together behind the character of "Dr. John," a real voodoo root doctor from the 19th century. Gris-Gris is a hybrid of New Orleans R&B and psychedelia.

Summary: Nice clean, well looked after copy of Dr John Night Tripper, Gris-gris 72 repress. Laminated sleeve, retains gloss, no creases. All edges, including spine proud and clean. Classic green/orange labels, no writing, sticker residue. Nice clean crisp NM audio - no pips, pops, crackle (not even in run in/out), sticks or jumps. Album graded EX/EX+.

Sleeve: Front laminated sleeve in nice condition retaining its original gloss, fully readable proud spine – no lamination creases or lift. All edges clean (inc opening edge). No rips, splits, writing or sticker residue. Graded EX/EX+ (see photos).

Vinyl: Retains its sheen under normal light. Closer inspection under a bright light and magnifying glass reveals a few (very, very few) hairlines – mainly from sleeve removal, graded EX

Audio: Plays through clear and clean. NM audio, so quiet. Nothing that interferes with play no pips, pops, clicks, skips, sticks, jumps or crackle no even in the run/out (have always kept all my albums in protective sleeves) (played on a Project carbon - blue 2M Ortofon).

I have tried to be honest and transparent in my description - the photographs form part of the description. Questions are welcome, don't hesitate to ask. I have good feedback (and positive comments) as both a buyer and seller, so you can buy with confidence. I have been a collector for 47+ years buying and selling a few of my records over the years to feed my changing music habits. The few records I sell are either the results of upgrades, duplicates or a bit of thinning every now and again as this is. If anything is not as expected, please contact me straight away and I will do everything to resolve any problems without argument.

I strictly adhere to the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide using one + or - as an additional guide:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
