A DUANE EDDY SINGLE THAT IS PROBABLY UNIQUE, CERTAINLY IRREPLACEABLE
Created as an acetate more than sixty years ago, intended obviously as a Duane Eddy single that never saw the light of day. If you have a Duane Eddy 45 collection - it's definitely missing this title. I bought it on eBay in the early 2000's (for around $200 as I recall) - from (I was led to believe) the company that created it. My information at the time, was that it had been played once only - just to test its validity supposedly. I have never played it since its acquisition. I have had to nominate it as "used" however, though it is probably "new."
If you are in the market for what is probably the rarest Duane Eddy single in existence (there would be a few other acetates of other titles I imagine.......somewhere!) - you've come to the right place.
Do not be concerned by those circular marks on the disc face - I have owned and sold a few acetates - they ALL have these for some reason - they do not affect the playing area of the disc. Being just an acetate - there is nothing on the back of the disc - no "flip-side." (See second image)
This, I was informed at the time of purchase on eBay almost 20 years ago, is the original very sturdy cardboard sleeve the disc was dispatched in. Cardboard, because the acetate is noticeably thicker and heavier than a standard 7" vinyl 45 and a paper sleeve would afford it no protection whatsoever.
I would think any professional record collector or devotee of Duane Eddy himself, would appreciate having this in his or her collection. I have the last twenty years! The asking price is beyond reasonable, especially if you figure what $200 was worth back in 2003 or 4. Actually I can tell you that exactly....$334 - I just Googled it!
