This album, which preceded "Hotel California" by about two years,was the first to help EAGLES fetch the multi-million-copy-sold gold RIAA award certificate. However, it is a much, much better album than anything they would go on to record in their later years. You have not lived unless you've heard Eagles harmony-vocalize to "The Best of My Love" , or the cover of Tom Waits' "Ol' 55" , as well as some little-known gems such as 'My Man' or 'James Dean' in multi-layered quadraphonic sound. If you miss this one now, you won't find another copy one of these nights, or, for that matter, any time soon. Quadraphonic recordings of the early 70's died a slow and agonizing death because of their hopeless incompatibility with the existing stereo and mono equipment (they can be played on stereo equipment, but not to the full effect), but they live on in the hearts of the collectors, and for good reason: some of the finest audiophile recordings ever made - whether rock, soul or classical, were released on some of these, little known and poorly advertised, albums. And, what a gorgeous presentation these recordings are: with rich audio-textures and stunning multi-channel separation which is truly a jaw-dropping, head-spinning experience.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire this great album in its FINEST audio format, no longer in print, and no longer easily obtainable.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)            WE GRADE THE VINYL AS NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs - are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible, and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)            The record has a few "dots" scattered here and there on the surface of the vinyl (these dots are a visible, but almost certainly not audible). These "dots" are usually a result of either (a) exertion of pressure on the record THROUGH the cover, or the record being stored too tightly, or (b) low-quality paper inner sleeve which lightly irritated parts of the record surface over time.

(c)             The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(d)            The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(e)             Quad pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its stereo counterpart. The mix is more natural, humane, "organic" and in some instances (we cannot guarantee) the mixes may be somewhat different than on the stereo version. We estimate that stereo copies of this album outnumber quad by a ratio of at least 70:1.

(f)              Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD+++.

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has a small cutout saw-mark (an indent about 13-15 mm long ) on one of its seams.

-         Cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record), probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-         Cover has a partially split top seam (less than 1 inch / 2.5 centimeters)

-         Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease) in one of the corners.

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging (nothing significant).

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-         No ring wear

-         No cut-out (drill) holes.

-         No cut-out corners

-         No wrinkles or creases

-         No writing

-         No stamps

-         No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-         No peel-off marks

-         No stains

-         No mold or mildew spots

-         No stickers or labels

-         No water damage

-         No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or cuts.

-         No warping

-         No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-         No bar codes

-         No RIAA stamps or stickers.
