Description
This is a fine original U.S. pressing copy of the first solo LP by Beat poet and ex-Fugs mastermind Ed Sanders, released in 1969. The record is unsurprisingly similar to Sanders' work with the Fugs, from the irreverent appropriations of literary classics ("The Iliad" [sic], "Pindar's Revenge") to the surreal shaggy-dog tale, "Jimmy Joe, the Hippybilly Boy," which recalls his standout contribution to the Fugs' final studio LP from that year, "The Belle of Avenue A." Also notable is the ironic coding of the songs as green, yellow, and red light songs, indicating their appropriateness for radio play (green = "pure as the driven snow"/"OK to play," yellow = "borderline"/"don't play at the country school," red = not OK at all). The jacket is close to pristine (M-). The disc is clean with a little light scraping, and plays with some light surface noise -- EX(+).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
