Description

I am selling my personal collection due to retirement. i lived and collected in various countries for over 50 years....

GENRE:Rock'n Roll

FORMAT: 78 RPM ... no labels, vinyl MSX 5287-1/MSX 5288-1 matrix

EDDIE COCHRAN 10 inch 78 rpm vinyl  test or reference recording or something else? :Week-end/ Cherished memories. NO labels, but Eddie Cochran written on the label of one side,. Comes with write up/insert.

I played it twice! This record looks Excellent and plays VG+ just like a test or reference recording in generic sleeve as is with handwritings. Not sure what it is: I bought this years ago....it came from the UK...i believe its the Cruisin' the fifties test recording of 1996.  All i remember it was a limited issue, Maybe some one knows exactly who issued it and when it was pressed ...I am selling it as an Oddity as is...  will be shipped in a 78 rpm box in the USA with insurance. If you like to lock it in you can make me an offer i can't refuse...see all photos.

This is what a found on internet: a similar test record  sold for $132 in 2018.

VERY RARE EDDIE COCHRAN TEST PRESSING

                           “WEEKEND - CHERISHED MEMORIES”

                                    CRUISIN’ THE 50’S CASB 004

                                              ISSUED IN 1996

ONLY 10 TEST PRESSINGS WERE MADE AND FOR SOME REASON EMI PRESSED THEM WITH NO WHITE  CENTRE LABELS.

                                                                                               ***************************************************

THIS IS THE INFORMATION FROM CRUISIN’ WHEN THE 78’s WERE ISSUED

The records are pressed in heavyweight vinyl on an original 1950's machine at EMI. The lacquers used to make the metal masters were cut on an original 50's mono 78rpm lathe and are complete with a locked eccentric runout groove - this feature is required by early jukeboxes to reject the record.

To create an authentic rich 78rpm sound we were lucky with the help of Abbey Road Studios to track down a Multi Award winning engineer who had worked for many of the UK's leading record labels including Columbia and Top Rank during the late 50's. With his skills and using original equipment we were able to once again produce true 78rpm records of the highest quality.

THIS RECORD CAN BE MIXED IN WITH SHELLAC 78's ON A JUKEBOX WITH A 78 RPM NEEDLE - IT IS NOT AN INFERIOR MICROGROOVE PRESSING.
