Description
This auction is for a rare 78 test pressing of Eddie Cochran on Liberty Records doing Sweetie Pie, record number F-55278. I have never seen this type of disc before, but I've been told that it was an advance pressing that was produced prior to production pressings, and that only a very few were made, perhaps 8 or 10, so that makes this a very rare jewel for collectors. The label is white with black print. The record title, artist, and record number are typewritten, and the number 13321 is written above the title in blue crayon marker which looks to me that it was written there when the disc was produced. This is a one sided disc, the back side is blank. The disc material is not the same as a regular production 78, it appears to be made of a very dense, rigid plastic. Condition of the vinyl is mint with original brilliant shine. The label is near mint as well. There is a crayon mark in the lead out grooves that circle the label, and also the number 6 and a word or name that I cannot decipher is also written there. I'm sure this is easily removed if you wish to do so. Anyway, if there is someone out there that knows more about this disc, please email me and I'll add the information to the auction.
