Division of Liberty Label
"VAN GELDER" in dead wax
This is one of the most righteous albums of jazz ever recorded especially for the BLUE NOTE label! This album is a brilliant blend of soulful and avant garde styles. The stellar musicians are backed by a chorus of soulful voices that blends nicely! This is the second album recorded for Blue Note by the Ghetto Music ensemble of trumpeter Eddie Gale. Eddie did not attract a lot of attention in the late 60's and sadly was a lesser-known talent at the time. He had recorded previously with Cecil Taylor, but expanded his sound into a spiritual soul laced masterpiece! The album sounds like nothing else you can imagine and part of the style shares the energy of similar vocal/jazz projects by a la Billy Harper, but Gale's approach is much more dynamic! Titles include "Ghetto Love Night", "Song Of Will", "Ghetto Summertime", "Black Rhythm Happening", "The Gleeker", and "Look At Teyonda". This is one of the most difficult albums to find in the entire 60's Blue Note archives,,,extremely rare so GOOD LUCK!! Check out the selection of jazz coming in...
