Takoma B1023 EDDIE "ONE STRING" JONES/ EDWARD HAZELTON One String Blues - RARE!!
1968 LP
The idea of someone performing Ernest Lawlars-Memphis Minnie's Me And My Chauffeur, Walter Davis' Come Back Baby and Hambone Willie Newbern's Roll And Tumble Blues on a one-string guitar (using an old whiskey bottle as a slide) may sound very limiting but, as performed by Eddie "One String" Jones it's a remarkable musical experience! He also performs an unexpurgated version of The Dozens. Recorded in 1960 on the streets of Los Angeles by Frederick Usher, Eddie Jones (if that's his real name) was a remarkable find, who, unfortunately disappeared soon after these recordings. The remaining sides are by rough and ready harmonica player Edward Hazelton which are fine though Jones is clearly the star here.- Eddie "One String" Jones - "One-String Three-Quarter Banjo Picker ... The record has been played many times but shows no significant deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks. Normal wear and tear on the jacket, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G)
The record has been played enough that the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably and may have light pops and skips. The jacket may suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits or discoloration.
FAIR (F)
The record is playable but was not properly cared for and plays with extensive surface noise overriding sound and may skip considerably. The jacket may be torn, stained or defaced.
BAD (B)
