The Edgar Broughton Band, founded in 1968 in Warwick, England, was an English psychedelic rock group. The band started their career as a blues group under the name of The Edgar Broughton Blues Band, playing to a small following in the region around their hometown of Warwick. However, when the band began to lean towards the emerging psychedelic movement, dropping the 'Blues' from their name as well as their music, Victor Unitt left. In 1968, the Edgar Broughton Band moved to Notting Hill Gate, London, seeking a recording contract and a wider audience, and were picked up by Blackhill Enterprises. Blackhill landed them their first record deal, on EMI's progressive rock label Harvest Records, in December 1968. Their first single was "Evil"/"Death of an Electric Citizen", released in June 1969, which was also the first single released by Harvest.
The LP comes with it’s original glossy laminated gatefold sleeve and includes the double sided lyric sheet.
Both record labels are in superb Excellent condition, bright and undamaged record labels with just a few light signs of play to the centre of each record label.
Side 1 matrix information side 1: SHVL 772A-3 and Side 2: SHVL 772B -3.
Both sides of the LP are in Excellent condition, with several surface hairlines, no deep scratches or scuffs.
The LP plays through both sides without faults, no skips or clicks, and with background crackle, otherwise a superb sound quality through all tracks.
And is protected in it’s original gatefold sleeve which is in Excellent Minus condition, a respectable example with sellotape marks/residue on the inner gatefold.
