The German artist's fifth studio album and first in six years, is a return that redefines minimal techno with grace and precision. Released via Ostgut Ton, it shows an artist re-engaging with his roots while bending them into something more profound and expansive. Across 11 songs, Poly thrives on rhythm, emotion and tone. The album opens with 'Drift', a bed of shadowy pads and offbeat pulses, before the title track jolts into a swift high tempo affair. Fluid, restless and alive are descriptions that come to mind. From the sleek propulsion of 'Signal to Noise' to the lush Detroit shimmer of 'Rauris', Efdemin sculpts techno that breathes and pulsates. 'Radical Hope' channels the stripped-down spirit of minimal pioneers like Daniel Bell, while 'Microphase' and 'Irrlicht' blur the line between propulsion and introspection. Poly is a refinement album that is equally subtle, tender and texturally complex.
