Description
Here's an original copy of EGG - Same, originally released 1969 in Germany on Deram (red/white) PDM 12025. Superrare german first press of amazing psych into prog masterpiece debut with Dave Stewart. The record is in VG(+) condition and the laminated sleeve is in VG+ condition.
One of the first in this vein after the Arzachel-project and the 1st Caravan LP. Musically I think this is one of the best & most adventurous Canterbury LP's.
Egg formed in 1969 by Dave Stewart (organ), Mont Campbell (bass/vocals) and Clive Brooks (drums), who were all formerly in Uriel / Arzachel. Egg toured the UK extensively and recorded three highly acclaimed albums (Egg, The Polite Force and The Civil Surface) before breaking up in 1972. After Hillage left Uriel for college Egg landed a record deal and then Uriel also reformed to record under the name Arzachel with Hillage still only 17 years old. The first album shows some Soft Machine influences and a focus on unusual time signatures that Dave Stewart would also explore with later bands Hatfield And The North and National Health. Egg and Stewart's other projects tend to get lumped into the 'Canterbury Scene' with the extended Soft Machine and Gong families of musicians.
