Description

NEXT - ANOTHER COUPLE OF WEEKS WORTH OF VARIOUS COLLECTABLE VINYL LPs AND 12" EPs!  This auction is in respectful remembrance of Ronnie James Dio, the Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio, and Heaven And Hell vocalist who passed away on May 16th after 40 years as one of the founding fathers and most influential voices who shaped modern heavy metal music over its entire history. 

This is an original 1972 yellow label U.S. pressing of the self-titled first LP from Elf, Ronnie James Dio's first hard rock band. It is a U. S. Epic Records LP, catalog number KE 31789. 

Dio and two other members of Elf were hand-picked by Richie Blackmore to form the very first incarnation of Richie Blackmore's Rainbow after Blackmore left Deep Purple in 1973. During the 1980s I owned and operated a record shop that specialized in hard rock and heavy metal, and even in those days this LP was a rare and sought-after heavy metal collectable, always a hard to find item and more significant than ever right now. 

Condition of record is a mid to high VG+ with some light surface marks which cannot be felt and do not affect play. Condition of covers is a low VG+ with a 3" split in the middle of the bottom edge (I have carefully and neatly repaired this split by taping from the inside), a few slight wrinkles, some contact and ring wear, and some wear and flaking along the edges and on the corners. 

Personnel: Ronald Padavona (AKA Ronnie James Dio)-bass, vocals / David Feinstein (later of The Rods)-guitar / Gary Driscoll-drums / Mickey Lee Soule-piano.

Tracks: Hoochie Koochie Baby, First Avenue, Never More, I'm Coming Back For You, Sit Down Honey (Everything Will Be Alright), Dixie Lee Junction, Love Me Like A Woman, Gambler Gambler.

This historic LP would be a rare and essential addition to any Ronnie James Dio or hard rock / heavy metal record collection!
