Description
This Rare limited edition clear gold vinyl LP is called Performance and is the eleventh studio album by the German rock band Eloy, released in 1983. Frank Bornemann's will was to stay loyal to Eloy's prog rock roots, while the rest of the band wanted to explore a more mainstream direction, with less complicated music. Even though this album is still quite progressive, and the keyboards are really floating, rythmic, varied, futuristic and melodic. The electric guitar is well balanced between sometimes distortion-free parts, sometimes quite aggressive hard rock parts, and it is always very clean and very rythmic. The bass is surprisingly complex, very well played and often fast. The drums are sophisticated and may be fast too. "Surrender" is the piano ballad by excellence: very catchy and full of colorful keyboards. This album is comparable to "Planets", because it has the same similar sound, it is faster hard rock and the keyboards steal less of the show. Other great songs on here are "In Disguise" , "Shadow and Light" , "Heartbeat" and "A Broken Frame" !
