ELTON DEAN'S NINESENSE

HAPPY DAZE

OGUN RECORDING LTD OG 910 - STEREO

RARE U.K. JAZZ ALBUM!

A great opportunity to bid for a rare album of superb UK jazz!

Elton Dean was an English jazz musician who performed on saxophone, saxello (a type of soprano saxophone) and occasionally keyboard.

In the mid-60s he was a member of Bluesology, led by Long John Baldry. (The band's pianist would later combine Dean's and Baldry's first

names to create his own stage name - Elton John.) From 1968 to 1970 he established his reputation as a member of the Keith Tippett Sextet,

before joining Soft Machine in 1969 for three years. Shortly before leaving the band, he started his own group, Just Us, and from 1975 to 1978

he led the nine-piece band, Ninesense.

Personnel on the album: Elton Dean (alto sax, saxello), Alan Skidmore (tenor sax), Harry Beckett (trumpet, flugelhorn), Marc Charig (cornet,

tenor horn), Nick Evans (trombone), Radu Malfatti (trombone), Keith Tippett (piano), Harry Miller (bass), Louis Moholo (drums).

Sleeve: A great (dope-inspired?) design showing a vine-like plant growing from Elton Dean as he plays! The sleeve is fully laminated on both sides

with no tears, splits, repairs, stickers or writing! The intact laminate falls short of the open edge on both sides by approximately 2-3 mm, so there is some

minor discolouration in this unprotected area. There is also some general, light, age-related discolouration on the sleeve, as well as some equally

light ring wear, just obvious on the front, in the middle of the top edge.

Inner Sleeve: Plain white, poly-lined and die-cut paper. It is intact and unmarked.

Vinyl: Clean and bright with no major visual faults. A few light surface marks, as might be expected on a record which is 36 years old,

but the playing surface really does look superb! Playback is crisp and clear with no major audio defects at normal volume.

Labels: As with the vinyl, the labels look great. They are intact with no damage or notations, and no spindle marks!

Matrix Codes: Side 1 - OG 910 A-1 and what looks like E.G. or the second letter may be T.

Side 2 - OG 910 B-1 and what looks like E.G. or the second letter may be G. There is also a triangle followed by 2079.

Side 1: 1. Nicrotto (12'.03"), 2. Seven For Lee (8'.40")

Side 2: 1. Sweet F.A. (11'.03"), 2. Three For All (10'.49")

All compositions by Elton Dean. Album produced by Elton Dean and Keith Beal, engineered by Roger T Wake and recorded at Redan

Recorders, London W2 on July 26th, 1977. Sleeve notes by Steve Lake and photo by Yuka.

This is just one item from my own extensive and eclectic personal collection of music and related bits and pieces which I will be listing over the next few months, or so.

I have been collecting for more than 30 years, so check back regularly to see what other gems I may have unearthed - they won't be listed in any particular order! My

recent absence from eBay has been because of work commitments but, as they seem to have dried up, I will be spending more time disposing of my collection!

I am not a dealer, so won't use traditional grading terms but, instead, will describe each item as carefully and honestly as I can with text and photos. Bidders are then free

to form their own opinions. Any apparent marks showing in the photos are reflections or dust, etc., unless otherwise specifically identified. If in doubt, please contact me

with any queries before bidding and I will get back to you promptly with an answer. I will also keep you informed throughout the whole ebay process.

All vinyl will be packaged in sturdy cardboard mailers with at least one stiffener and will be despatched within 2 working days of payment being received. PayPal is preferred,

but please contact me before bidding to discuss alternative, acceptable methods. Postage rates: UK - 2nd Class £2.60, Europe/R.O.T.W - AirMail Small Packet £6.50/£11.40.

Please note that I do not combine postage. All items are packaged and sent individually, so as to minimise damage and/or loss.

Thanks for looking and Happy Bidding!
