Madman Across the Water is the fourth studio album by British singer/songwriter Elton John, released in 1971. The title song, "Madman Across the Water", was set to be released on Elton John's previous album Tumbleweed Connection. However, it was set aside and would eventually serve as the title track of this album. Previous versions of the song (from the Tumbleweed era) can still be found, specifically on the remastered Tumbleweed Connection CD. When it was released in 'The Classic Years' collection, it was the first album not to feature any bonus tracks!!!!!

Another from my personal collection! Purchased from new and stored in a case with the vinyl removed from the sleeve and cover! This is how I have always stored my records! These are virtually impossible to ever find in this remarkable condition after 37 years! Also this is one of the earliest UK pressing!!!!!

The vinyl

This is the original heavier and thicker type of vinyl (only early press) later press are much more flimsier and less robust.

This vinyl looks awesome! I can hardly see a blemish!!! Only in strong light can possibly any whispy sleeve removal marks be seen! To be honest i can't see any at all!! (no) audio sounding marks what so ever) Beleive me this is a real rarety! to find a 37 year old 1st press Elton John record that is like this is so rare to ever find! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE! AN ARCHIVE COPY!!! (no) clicks pops cristal clear and vibrant plays as good as it gets! Highly collectable and sought after!

The Audio Quality

I have played this vinyl prior to listing at very loud volume on a top system! The audio is truly stunning throughout! Cristal clear and very vibrant!,, as good as it gets in my opinion!!!! looks and sounds like it has never been oplayed before!! Audio and vinyl grades as near mint!

(see photos) These are like new! There are hardly (no) real visable signs that this has ever been played at all in my opinion , I can't see any spider marks at all!!! ! UNBELEIVABLE! 37 years old!!! Please note! This has olnly ever been played by me originally to record to tape and stored for all of these years! Unbeleivable!!!

This is the original plain white 'Made in England' patented sleeve as new! The vinyl has been seperated from the sleeve!!

The Cover

This is the original 1st press TEXTURED UNLAMINATED UK GOTHIC PRINT FINISHERS LTD , LONDON , SE9'' gatefold cover! in unbeleivable condition! NEVER EVER SEEN LIKE THIS! so hard to keep in good condition. this has amaiingly (no)  ringware to talk of! Hardly any storageware\rubbing  worth to mention on the front or rear extreemely rare to ever find , these are normally notorious for rubbing! just very (very) light bumping to the front bottom corner near the spine (only ever noticed if scrutinised) Without this I would grade as at least near mint! The lightest of  creases to the front or rear worth to mention light creases only on the inside (nothing to worry about in my opinion) This cover is graded at least excellent plus!!!

A NEAR ARCHIVE COPY! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE!

The booklet

The original booklet is securely attached to the cover and is as new makes this early original issue complete!!!!
