2 LP set, catalog #LPZ(2)-2040, of DCC Compact Classics remastering of Presley's definitive early RCA recordings. It has been re-issued again since this one came out but my instincts tell me the DCC version is the one to own. Why? Because it was compiled and mastered by Steve Hoffman, one of the few audiophile engineering gurus with rock and roll sensibilities. Hoffman has remastered hundreds of songs (maybe thousands?) for major labels and the results have always been stunning. Check out the Vintage series he did for MCA of late 50's-early 60's hits. Remarkable stuff.
Jacket and discs are both as close to MINT as can be short of a sealed copy. I am the original owner and it has only been played one time. Sonics are amazing as the old noise levels inherent in recordings of the day are gone. Re-mastered on an all vacuum tube cutting system. If you've got a good hifi system, crank up the opening guitar riff to Little Sister and have a box of tissues close at hand. No reserve, serious bidders only, please.
