ELVIS 78 rpm Mean Woman Blues Cdn Only (E)
ELVIS PRESLEY. RCA Victor 7066 (Cdn) Mean Woman Blues/Have I Told You Lately That I Love You.This is it – one of the ‘holy grails’ of Elvis 78 collecting - the 1957 ‘Canadian only’ Elvis 78 that was never released as a single in the US. These rarely come up, especially a copy in as fine a shape as this beauty.
This scarce gem visually grades a shimmery E (note that E+ is my highest grade) with a few completely harmless surface marks and rubs – a couple more on the B side. I’ve spot-checked thoroughly and the red hot mid fifties pressing sounds just great – like near new. The labels are nice with a very tiny touch of wear around the centre hole and the disc comes in its original ‘V’ sleeve. Note: the silver print on the labels is a bit transparent making the labels hard to scan. I’ve cranked the contrast so you can read the print. The labels actually look nicer than the over-contrasted scan!
If you’ve always wanted an excellent copy of this scarce Canadian only 78 release by the King, here’s your chance. Scarce in any condition, this is a nice one.

78s are cleaned before listing. Upon receiving, your only job will be to enjoy the music.78s come in used but nice vintage green sleeves or, when possible, original paper sleeves.
I do my spot-checking and play testing on a Technics 1200 turntable with a Stanton 500 cartridge using a standard Stanton 2.7 stylus. The amp is a mid-70s Pro-Linear with the mono switch activated. The speakers are small recording studio monitors (Yamaha NS 10) that are known for being overly bright – great for spotting that mild surface noise!
I ship 78s as I like to receive them - using the four-sheet 10” cardboard sandwich, foam chips, 12" x 12" x 4 "(or 6") box method.
I use standard 78 grading (E+, E, E-, V+, V, V- etc). I’ll sometimes use double plus or minus signs to really hone in on the shape.
